HAPPY NATIONAL MORTICIAN AND FUNERAL DIRECTORS DAY
Wait, what?
Am I serious? Dead serious (pun intended).
They have "National Donut and Coffee Day," why can't we funeral service professionals get a day?
We can, and we do. But we don't need one, nor is it something we have time to "celebrate."
Funeral service professionals (owners, managers, directors, embalmers, apprentices, service coordinators, etc.) work around the clock, day in, and day out.
Nights, holidays, weekends, anniversaries, birthdays, Super Bowls, you name it, we've missed it.
It's also the most rewarding thing I have ever done with my life. And I've been through a lot, trust me.
To all of the apprentices out in the world who are on zero sleep, who went out on multiple death transfers throughout the night; the funeral directors who will now meet with all of those families today; and the embalmers who will prepare each one of the decedent's as if they were their own...
Happy National Mortician and Funeral Directors Day.
Now go get yourself an extra coffee (or two), the clock's ticking.
Life, death, and everything in between.
